How to enjoy the "mud season"

jon

Ski season in the Vail Valley has just wrapped up.  What is a local and visitor to do now?  Not to worry, there is still much to enjoy in our beautiful Valley.

The weather has been getting much warmer in the past week, peaking in the upper fifties.  On Sunday, April 18 it got up to 71 degrees in Eagle, which is located 30 miles West of Vail.  This warmer weather has opened up some of the hiking trails, and biking season has begun.  There are a few mountain bike trails open in the Edwards area, and the road bikers are out in full force.  If hiking and bikiing aren't your thing, maybe it's time to dust off those golf clubs and get swinging.  A number of our local courses have opened including the Sonnenalp Golf Course in Edwards and Eagle Ranch in Eagle.  If you are open to a beautiful drive, check out the Lakota Golf Course just west of Glenwood Springs.  Driving thru Glenwood Canyon is one of the most beautiful drives in the country.

The off season is also the perfect time to enjoy some of your favorite restaurants at a discount.  Many of the best restaurants in town offer up to half off specials during this time of year.  Check the Vail Daily for all the current updated specials.

As the days pass and the weather gets warmer and warmer, more hiking and biking trails will continue to open, the white water rafting companies will be begin running and more of the golf courses will continue to open up.   Of course if you haven't gotten rid of the ski bug, there's always Arapahoe Basin about 45 minutes away.  Enjoy the mud season.

Travelers insurance

jon

When booking a reservation with us at Prudential Colorado Properties, you are given the option of purchasing “travelers insurance” for an extra fee.  We offer a product thru an independent company called Travelguard.  They are the largest travelers insurance company in the country.  Basically it works like this.  If you choose to purchase the fake watches insurance (and it is totally optional), the cost is 7% of your entire reservation.  So, if your reservation and tax totals $1,000 than the cost of the insurance is an extra $70.  The insurance must be purchased by the time your final payment is due. If the insurance is purchased within 21 days of your initital reservation than Travelguard will waive any pre-exisitng conditions.

There are various components of what is included in the travelers insurance.  The most important and most frequently used is the trip cancellation and interruption.  This covers the cost of your trip if you must cancel or interrupt your trip for reasons such as sickness, injury or death to you, your traveling companion, a family member, service animal or business partner.  It also covers inclement weather, military duty, employer terminations, layoffs or job transfers, involved in or delayed in a traffic accident.

Other parts of the insurance coverage include:

$600 trip delay: Reimburses up to $200 a day for reasonable expenses.

$1,000 baggage:
Reimburses you if your

baggage is lost, stolen or dama.ed on your trip.

$1,000 baggage delay: Reimburses (up to $200 a day) for purchasing essential items when bags are delayed more than 12 hours.

$25,000 Medical Expense: Covers emergency medical expenses incurred while traveling, includes emergency dental treatment.

$500,000 Emergency evacuation: Covers evacuation and transportation to the nearest adequete medical facility when required by and attending physician.

$100,000 accidental death and dismemberment: Covers for loss of life or limb within 180 days of an accident on your trip.

$25,000 car rental collission coverage: Covers damage due to collission, vandalism, theft, windstorm, fire, hail or flood.

If indeed you have to turn in a claim to the insurance company, we put you in touch directly with Travelguard.  They will process your claim quickly and professionally.  We have found them to be excellent to work with and very efficient in processing claims.

Again, the travelers insurance program is completely optional.  We do strongly recommend, that all guests purchase the insurance.  One never knows what can come up in their life that might prevent or delay a trip.  Please ask us if you have any further questions or would like to see a sample policy. The items listed about should not be considered a sample policy as terms and conditions can change.
