If you’ve never visited our mountain town before, you may be wondering about the easiest way to get here. Most people decide to fly to the Denver International Airport and make the two-hour trip on land from Denver to Vail. There are many ways to get here, whether you want to rent a car, take the shuttle, or enjoy a private SUV. However, you get to Vail, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices has the perfect vacation home waiting for your arrival!

Epic Mountain Express

The Epic Mountain Express offers a shuttle service from the Denver International Airport to Vail throughout the year. This is one of the most affordable and convenient travel options taking just over three hours. If you are looking for private, luxury transportation services, you can take advantage of Premier Mountain Express. This option offers a personal chauffeur service in an SUV or charter van.

Berkshire Hathaway guests will receive a 10% to 20% discount on transportation using our code 30755 during checkout.

Bustang Bus

The cheapest way to get from Denver to Vail is the bus through the Colorado Department of Transportation system. Bustang departs from the Union Station in downtown Denver to the Vail Transportation Center. The Bustang West Line offers the easiest route to get you to Vail in 2.5 hours, traffic permitting. Once you have arrived at the Transportation Center, you can use the Eagle County bus or rent a car to get to your vacation rental.

Car Rental

If you want the freedom to get to Vail on your own schedule, we recommend renting a car from the Denver Airport. Keep in mind that Vail Village is car-free, but luckily many of our vacation rentals offer on-site parking. The drive is around 100 miles on I-70 and can get quite busy during winter. Renting a car provides a fantastic opportunity to take things slow and explore the charming mountain towns along the way. Some of the most popular pit stops include the charming cities of Golden and Georgetown.

Photo of fall foliage during fall in vailMost people save their Vail vacations for winter, looking to shred the slopes at one of the best ski resorts in the country. However, Vail is beautiful year-round, and you don’t have to wait till winter to experience the best of Vail. Fall is the perfect time to visit Vail; when the crowds die down, there is a comfortable chill in the air, and the scenery is as beautiful as ever. The colorful yellow leaves of the mountains offer the perfect backdrop for outdoor adventures like hiking, biking, horseback riding, and fishing. Fall in Vail may be short-lived, but it provides one of the best times to visit our Colorado mountain town. Stay with us at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices and stay close to the action in one of our luxury vacation rentals.

Adventurous Activities

Fall in Vail offers an excellent opportunity to get on the trails with hiking and mountain biking adventures. If you are a family visiting Vail, we recommend the Lost Lake Trail, which offers a level footpath and rewards hikers with views of Piney Peak. The Upper Piney River Falls Trail is the most popular fall hike, around six miles long, and offers some of the best views in Vail.

Explore even more trails this fall with mountain biking adventures. You can find the most extensive mountain bike trails on Vail Mountain, where you can take a gondola ride to the trails. Discover our favorite Vail Mountain Biking trail on our blog.

Fall Festivals in Vail

Fall also brings some of the best events and festivals to our town. In fact, the Vail Oktoberfest has been named among the country’s top ten greatest Oktoberfest celebrations! Our German-style alpine village offers the perfect place to drink beer, listen to music, and celebrate autumn. Join us for traditional Bavarian music, bratwurst eating competitions, and of course, tasty beer.

Or embrace your true lumberjack spirit at the Man of the Cliff event in Avon, Colorado. This one-day festival will have everyone wearing flannel as they sip on craft brews and watch keg tossing competitions.

Fall Fishing in Vail

Fall is a beautiful time to take advantage of the weather and get outside for fly fishing. As the summer crowds dwindle and the weather cools down, fly fishing is at its best. The Eagle, Colorado, and Roaring Fork rivers offer limitless opportunities to catch trout with wade or float trips. Cast your line on your own or consult a local expert who will take you to the best local fishing spots. Outfitters like Gore Creek Fly Fisherman and Vail Valley Anglers offer everything you need for a successful day on the water.
